The Love for Peru Foundation
carries out yearly drives to collect and send to Peru a container
load with wheelchairs, walkers, portable toilets, shower-chairs,
crutches, and other medical supplies.
On average, each container carries
around 80 wheelchairs, 100 walkers, 60 portable toilets, 100
pairs of crutches, several hospital beds and stretchers, rehabilitation
equipment, and several boxes with spare parts.
The Love for Peru Foundation
has teamed up with the Pensacola Downtown and Five Flags Rotary
Clubs, as well as with the Fort Walton Beach Rotary Club to
cover the cost of sending the containers to Peru.
A team of volunteers travels
to Peru every year during the month of February to help fit
the chairs and equipment to dozens of needy disabled people.
Each team is able to help between 200 and 300 disabled, needy
people during their week-long stay in Lima.
