Peru is a developing country located in the
middle of South America, along the Pacific Ocean. A country
with breath-taking scenery and rich history, having been the
hub of the Inca Empire , today it has a population of 27 million,
out of which 70% live in poverty.
Lima, the capital, has a population of about
9 million, with a unemployment and under-employment rate over
50%. Lima is growing rapidly due to people coming from all over
the country looking for opportunity and work to sustain life.
As a result, the government finds itself overwhelmed. This situation
has created extremely poor shantytowns on the outskirts of the
city.

need, with a great number of them undernourished and with little
or no access to medical care, education, decent housing, nor
employment opportunities.
